Welcome to the farm!

Welcome to MGM Lavender Farm! We’re a small, 7 acre farm located in East TN in Knoxville, with lavender as our main focus. We are one of a few statewide farms growing this amazing plant which is considered to be a flower, herb, and shrub. And if you know anything about East TN, you know the soil is clay based which is not ideal to grow this beautiful, mediterranean plant. With Greg's agriculture background, he researched what soil modifications were needed to allow the lavender to thrive. After initially modifying the soil and planting over 100 plants, we were finally able to harvest the beautiful, fragrant flowers in 2017. Since our first harvest, we’ve expanded varieties to include both Phenomenal and Royal Purple lavender. With all of the harvested lavender, we’ve been able to participate in multiple festivals showcasing our handmade lavender related products and lavender bundles!  You can find us locally and regionally sharing the beautiful lavender!  Along with the lavender, we have zinnias, marigolds, and sunflowers.

Along with the flowers and lavender, two gardens and chickens keep us busy! Our resident cat, Millie, likes to walk with us on our daily treks around the farm to visit the chickens and collect the eggs!

The garden consists of tomatoes, corn, okra, zucchini, squash, potatoes, peppers, onions, garlic and carrots. Herbs include basil, sage, cilantro, and rosemary. Midsummer brings the bounty of all the hard work in planting the vegetables. But more work follows with the harvesting, canning and freezing for enjoyment of farm fresh food year round. In addition to vegetables, we love making jelly with the blackberries and strawberries on the farm!

Oh, and don’t forget the honey bees! Greg started beekeeping about four years ago when his uncle retired and gifted him with two hives. Of course, the bee boxes are purple to go along with the lavender theme of the farm!  Some of our non-permanent critter guests include red shouldered hawks, deer (who love our corn), foxes (who love our chickens 😳😢), various groundhogs, skunks, and raccoons who travel through the farm at night scavenging for food! Currently we have two Canadian geese who visit our pond daily and fly to the neighbors larger pond at night.

Farm Visits

The lavender starts blooming early June if the weather cooperates! We harvest the stems for bundles and dry them in the barn for a week and then they're ready for the festivals! We do have open farm days by appointment as there is limited parking!

Appointments can be made by calling 865-924-4247 to come pick your own bundle or we can have them ready for you when you get here. You may want to take a walk among the plants and just bask in the wonderful aroma! This normally starts the second week of June thru July or as long as the flowers are in bloom.

Local artists and gardening groups have scheduled group activities on the farm and photographers are also welcome to schedule field rental times for their clients. As you can see, we're pretty busy on the farm with the plants, gardens, animals, and visitors! We hope to see you at the farm!
